Words that come to mind when I think of 2012:
- upheaval, goodbye, Mediatheque, 7 years, Toronto, Montreal, home, Trayvon Martin, unmotivated, lay off, sadness, Newtown, family, relief, happiness, love, anger, friends, returning, Malala, Pussy Riot, guns, Obama, dragon year, Whitney Houston
Songs that come to mind that I love when I think of 2012:
- Domino (Jessie J), Give Your Heart A Break (Demi Lovato), Part of Me (Katy Perry), Closer (Tegan and Sara), Walk (Foo Fighters), (Blow Me) One Last Kiss (P!nk), I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor Swift)
Movies that come to mind when I think of 2012:
- Saving Face, Stories We Tell, 21 Jump Street (yes, that’s right)
But most of all when I think about the challenges, the heartache, the uncertainty, the risk-taking and the diving in that 2012 brought to me and my family – it continued my feeling that I never live with regret, that I am made of stronger stuff than I realize, and that nothing that we face is greater than we can handle.
So, thank you, 2012 – bring it, 2013.
I promise to read more books this year, more than ever to make up for the last of not reading any books at all.
I promise to at least have one new written piece.
I raise my glass to all of you.
